【News】Changan Automobile Automotive Lighting Forward-looking Technology Exhibition | Awinic Unveils Full-Scenario Automotive Ambient Lighting Solution, Offering a One-Stop Solution to Next-Generation Automotive Lighting Design Challenges

2026-06-26

On June 26, the Changan Automobile Automotive Lighting Forward-looking Technology and Ecosystem Chain Cooperation Exhibition was successfully held. Awinic Electronics was invited to attend and launched its full-scenario automotive ambient lighting solution. The solution features three core technologies—CoolPump™ high-current low-heat driving technology, on-device music rhythm synchronization solution, and AI-powered emotional ambient lighting—alongside a 3-to-216-channel series of automotive ambient light drivers, catering to next-generation automotive lighting applications such as high-brightness ambient lighting, on-device music rhythm synchronization with multi-channel dynamic flowing light effects, and emotionally aware intelligent interaction.

As the intelligent and electrified transformation of automobiles continues to deepen, the competitive focus of smart cockpits has shifted from hardware configurations to immersive sensory experiences. Automotive ambient lighting has become a core vehicle for emotional human-vehicle interaction. At present, OEMs are undergoing comprehensive interior design renovations, with new designs such as diffuse ambient lighting, smoked trim panels, and three-dimensional light-and-shadow effects being widely adopted, directly doubling the peak brightness requirements for ambient lighting. However, traditional linear solutions cause severe chip heating when current is increased, necessitating additional heat dissipation structures and driving up hardware costs. In response to the industry's demand for high-current automotive ambient lighting, Awinic's self-developed CoolPump™ patented technology addresses the challenge at its source.

CoolPump™ technology provides step-down power supply for LEDs, reducing chip power dissipation to one-third of that in traditional solutions. Under the same conditions (3 × 60mA), the overall temperature rise is reduced by 43°C!

This means that ambient light module manufacturers can implement high-current (high-brightness) ambient lighting applications without the need for additional heat dissipation solutions, effectively streamlining housing structure design, eliminating extra cooling components, and significantly reducing overall project BOM costs.

Image 2: On-Device Music Rhythm Synchronization Solution – Precise Synchronization Without Occupying Main Control Computing Power

With the iterative upgrade of the automotive industry, music rhythm synchronization functionality has gradually become a standard feature in new vehicles, and market demands for the visual performance of lighting rhythm effects continue to rise. However, there is a notable disparity in actual user experience among current models on the market, with pain points mainly falling into two categories:

First, poor experience: audio-light asynchrony, obvious signal latency, inaccurate rhythm detection, and rigid, monotonous lighting effects;

Second, high development difficulty: existing solutions rely entirely on the vehicle's main control unit for algorithm operation, consuming substantial computing power, requiring long development cycles, and involving extremely tedious cross-zone linkage debugging.

In response to these pain points, Awinic offers a dedicated on-device music rhythm synchronization solution with four core highlights:

First, accurate detection: a time-domain and frequency-domain hybrid algorithm precisely extracts music rhythm;

Second, fast synchronization: hardware-level signal processing enables millisecond-level audio-light synchronization, complemented by a rich and customizable lighting effect library;

Third, more intelligent: dynamic rhythm enhancement adaptively matches lighting intensity to soothing or upbeat music styles and varying volume levels;

Fourth, and most importantly, the algorithm runs on the device side without occupying the vehicle's main control computing power, greatly simplifying development and debugging.

Image 3: AI Emotional Ambient Lighting – Creating a Warm, Emotional, and Atmospheric Cabin

Today, automotive lighting has long surpassed basic illumination functions, evolving into a medium that conveys the emotions of drivers and passengers. Achieving emotion recognition and music style discrimination, transforming the cabin space into an extension of the owner's emotions, and enabling lighting to follow both the music and the mood—this is precisely Awinic Electronics' R&D goal in the automotive lighting domain.

On the basis of full-vehicle rhythm synchronization, Awinic has added two core capabilities:

First, AI-powered music style recognition, which identifies music genre and emotion in real time and automatically matches corresponding colors and lighting effects;

Second, screen-color linkage, where lighting synchronizes with the main color tone of the central control screen, achieving a highly integrated visual system throughout the entire vehicle interior.

From this point on, lighting is no longer a passive response tool but a companion that actively perceives emotions, elevating the cabin from a "functional space" to a "warm, emotional, and atmospheric space." This is the core differentiator of Awinic Light Language.

As a leading enterprise in China's analog and mixed-signal semiconductor field, Awinic Electronics has the automotive ambient lighting sector, providing solid technical support for various automotive ambient lighting solutions. The company currently offers ambient light driver products in three major categories.

1.     AW21036QPY-Q1: Eye-Friendly Smart Overhead Lighting Solution

Awinic has launched its self-developed automotive-grade LED driver chip AW21036QPY-Q1, which has been mass-produced for applications such as instrument cluster indicators, door-through flowing light strips, central control panel ambient lighting, vanity mirror illumination, and eye-friendly reading lights. It has also won the "2026 Influential Automotive Chip Award" and the "Top 30 New Automotive-Grade Chips" award.

2.     LIN, MCU, and LED Driver Three-in-One SoC Series

AW23003QNR-Q1: 3 channels at 60mA output, supporting auto-addressing; under the same load, temperature rise is 10°C lower than competing products, offering outstanding cost-performance and suitable for single-light ambient lighting in economy models.

AW23004QNR-Q1: 4 channels at 60mA, with two channels capable of parallel driving for red light, achieving a single-channel peak of 120mA. This solves issues of dim daytime lighting and poor light transmission in dark-colored interiors, with a specially optimized heat dissipation architecture ensuring stable high-brightness long-duration operation.

3.     AW20216EQPY-Q1: 216-Channel Constant Current Driver

Additionally, Awinic has launched the AW20216EQPY-Q1, which supports 216 independent LEDs per chip, with a maximum single-channel current of 100mA and 256-level fine dimming per channel. It features a built-in autonomous breathing algorithm, eliminating the need for the main controller to issue frequent commands, and integrates LED fault detection and over-temperature protection. A single chip supports three-dimensional light-and-shadow effects across multiple zones in the entire vehicle, simplifying domain controller hardware.
