I. Product Brief

The AW403063TCSR is a flat‑clamping surge protection TVS designed for PD3.1 EPR28V systems. It features highly compatible and flat clamping voltages, high surge immunity, and an ultra‑small, thin form factor, making it ideal for port protection in laptops, personal computers, tablets, and similar applications.

II. Product Advantages

In traditional discrete TVS devices, after turn‑on, the dynamic resistance Rd increases with temperature (positive temperature coefficient). The increased resistance further raises power dissipation (P = I² × Rd), creating a positive feedback loop.

As surge energy continues to be injected, heat dissipation lags behind heat generation, causing the junction temperature to rise exponentially. This thermal‑electric feedback runs out of control, ultimately resulting in a “hump” (bulge) in the Vclamp curve (see Figure 1).

For example, a traditional 36V clamping TVS paired with a 40V‑rated chip in a 28V PD port application carries extremely high risk: the safety margin is only 10%, surge test pass rates are low, long‑term reliability is poor, and TVS failure can directly damage the chip.

Awinic’s new AW403063TCSR incorporates a unique feedback mechanism to achieve precise, flat clamping. Under 200V, 8/20µs surge current stress, it firmly holds the system contact voltage below 40V, with a dynamic resistance as low as 5mΩ, easily withstanding high‑power transients from lightning strikes, grid fluctuations, and more.

For industrial signal lines’ common EMC requirements, the device can withstand up to 1kV IEC 61000-4-5 open‑circuit voltage through a 42Ω coupling resistor. It also integrates Level‑4 IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection, comprehensively blocking both electrostatic “lightning” and surge “tsunamis,” preventing equipment damage caused by transient voltages at the source.
